Pricing - Membership

Through the PLWA website you can renew your membership by credit card (Visa or Mastercard only) or by requesting an invoice for payments by other methods. No other goods or services are provided for sale through the website.

Your membership renewal is processed immediately when paid by credit card. Requests for offline payments will receive an invoice and details of bank transfer information.

Membership rates for 2021/22 are listed below and were ratified at the Annual General Meeting held on August 6 2021.

All prices are in Australian Dollars.

These Membership rates are valid until the next AGM which is scheduled to be held on August 5 2022.

Full membership - WA Local Government library services

Your annual membership provides you with access to PLWA's minutes and agendas through the website, and allows voting privileges at PLWA's General Meetings and Annual General Meetings.

If your population figures have changed, please contact us to amend your Membership Tier prior to renewing online.

Associate Membership

This category is open to individuals, associations, and institutions. 

Note: Associate membership does not confer voting rights.

Refunds

We are not required to provide a refund of your membership fee if you change your mind.

However, refunds may apply in the following instances:

Should your Local Government cease to be a Library Authority within three months of payment - 50% refund of fee paid.

Should your Local Government choose to cancel its membership within one month of payment - full refund.

Please contact the Treasurer to discuss any refund queries.

Refunds will be made only to a Local Government bank account.

 

PRIVACY POLICY

Public Libraries Western Australia, Inc (PLWA) is committed to providing quality services to you and this policy outlines our ongoing obligations in respect of how we manage your Personal Information.

We have adopted the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (the Privacy Act). The NPPs govern the way in which we collect, use, disclose, store, secure and dispose of your Personal Information.

What is Personal Information and why do we collect it?

Personal Information is information that identifies an individual.

The Personal Information collected by PLWA is as follows:

  • Local Government name or Library Service name (if different)
  • Library Service contact name
  • Library Service address (not personal address)
  • Library Service contact email address
  • Library Service contact phone number

This Personal Information is obtained from you when you register or renew your membership of Public Libraries WA or update your membership information online, by telephone or by email. 

We collect your Personal Information for the sole purpose of providing you with information regarding your PLWA membership. This information is not used for marketing purposes other than provision of information on PLWA Professional Development opportunities. 

Sensitive Information

Sensitive information is defined in the Privacy Act to include information or opinion about such things as an individual's racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, membership of a political association, religious or philosophical beliefs, membership of a trade union or other professional body, criminal record or health information.

PLWA does not collect any Sensitive information.

Disclosure of Personal Information

Your Personal Information may be disclosed where required or authorised by law. 

Your Personal Information is not shared with any third parties.

Payments by credit card are made through SecurePay - only your credit card information is transmitted to them.

Security of Personal Information

Your Personal Information is stored in a manner that reasonably protects it from misuse and loss and from unauthorized access, modification or disclosure.

When your Personal Information is no longer needed for the purpose for which it was obtained, we will take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify your Personal Information. 

Online payments by credit card are made through SecurePay - your credit card details are not stored in our records.

Access to your Personal Information

You may access the Personal Information we hold about you and to update and/or correct it, subject to certain exceptions. If you wish to access your Personal Information, please contact the Secretary in writing.

PLWA will not charge any fee for your request.

In order to protect your Personal Information we may require identification from you before releasing the requested information.

Maintaining the Quality of your Personal Information

It is an important to us that your Personal Information is up to date. We will take reasonable steps to make sure that your Personal Information is accurate, complete and up-to-date.
If you find that the information we have is not up to date or is inaccurate, please advise us as soon as practicable so we can update our records and ensure we can continue to provide quality services to you.

We will ensure that:

  • the data you give us will be safe
  • we use encryption to protect your Online Services login
  • your data is stored securely
  • regular backups of data are performed to ensure it can be recovered in case of a disaster
  • all attempted access to the system is logged. If any unauthorised behaviour should occur, this will assist us in identifying and resolving the issue

Protecting your credit card information

Credit card payments made via this website are made through SecurePay and no record of your credit card information is kept on our site.

Sensitive data on the site is encrypted and the site is protected by a current SSL Certificate - please click on the padlock icon in the browser menu to view the certificate information.

Your role in securing information

Technology and computers cannot safeguard information automatically. You need to protect your own information related to using this service.

PLWA accepts no liability for any interference with or damage to a user's computer system, software or data occurring in connection with or relating to this website or its use. Users are encouraged to take appropriate and adequate precautions to ensure that whatever is selected from this site is free of viruses or other contamination that may interfere with or damage the user's computer system, software or data.

  • PLWA will never ask for your password
  • If you think that your user account has been compromised please change your password immediately

  • Make your password as strong as possible
